Summer in Switzerland

27th January 2009 Print
The Switzerland Travel Centre has launched its 'Switzerland Summer 2009' programme highlighting a wide choice of unescorted rail holidays, a wealth of alpine resorts and, new for 2009, affordable family-friendly options.

The latter includes mobile home breaks at a lakeside campsite at Interlaken, where land-only prices - for two adults and up to three children - start from as little as £238 per party in early May, rising to £728 in peak season.

Facilities at the campsite, which is surrounded by mountains with views towards the Eiger, include a private beach - ideal for canoeing, windsurfing and fishing - along with sports area and mini-golf.

Turning to rail tours - with daily departures - additions for 2009 include the four-night 'Glacier Express' itinerary taking in a trip between St Moritz and Zermatt on this iconic train.

Prices start from £582 per person (twin share) inclusive of return flights from Heathrow, three-star hotels with breakfast, second class Swiss Card (for return airport rail transfers and offering half or reduced price travel on the Swiss travel network) and Glacier Express seat reservation.

Other ideas in the company's programme include family-friendly walking holidays, city breaks, two-centre holidays - by Eurostar and TGV - combining Paris with Lausanne or Geneva, along with tailor made packages of any duration.

The company is also the UK's leading provider of rail passes/tickets to Switzerland including the Swiss Pass - entitling the holder to unlimited travel on consecutive days on railways, boats and most post buses - and the Swiss Half Fare Card, allowing unlimited purchase of train, bus, boat and many cable car tickets at half-price within one month.
