Up close and personal with whales, dolphins and turtles
Get up close and personal with whales, dolphins and turtles this April with Biosphere Expeditions the award winning, not for profit conservation organisation that this year is celebrating its 10th anniversary. The expedition will be in the Azores Archipelago in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean.Working as part of a small, international team you will photograph whales and dolphins while also recording them for local and international monitoring databases. There will be the opportunity to make recordings of whale and dolphin vocalisations and capture loggerhead turtles in the open ocean for tagging and release.
If the conditions are right you may have the opportunity to collect sperm whale skin for DNA analysis which is done without harming the animals. All data collected will assist with the formulation of effective conservation strategies.
During the project the whole team will be working from a modern catamaran research boat.
Expeditions run between 4-13 & 18-27 April and cost £1090 excluding travel to and from The Azores.
