Celebrate St Patrick’s Day in true Irish style

More than 4000 performers and one million people will be celebrating Ireland’s national holiday - St Patrick’s Day. There’s plenty going on in Dublin with music, theatre, comedy, dance and street performances taking place before the world famous Parade kicks off on Tuesday 17 March.
The first evening is free; maybe sample a traditional Irish pub or two to get in the mood. Monday there’s a tour of the Guinness Brewery - perhaps the most famous of all breweries and beers, and close to the city centre, it’s a Dublin must. Tour the brewery itself and also the Guinness Museum for a walk through the history of this legend of beers. The rest of the day is free to continue the Guinness tasting (there are plenty of pubs to choose from) or there is an optional excursion to Belfast.
Almost as famous as the Guinness, the Dublin nightlife awaits and there’s plenty of time to explore before heading to the Comedy Club (included). But the real party begins on Tuesday 17 March with the St Patrick's Day Parade. Thousands will flood the city streets for this year’s ‘The sky’s the limit’ themed festival. As well as the usual music and dance, the 2009 highlights include ‘Skyfest’ - a massive firework, pyrotechnic and lighting display.
