Follow in the footsteps of Chris and Cheryl

23rd February 2009 Print
A group of celebrities - including Chris Moyles, Cheryl Cole, Alesha Dixon, Fearne Cotton, Gary Barlow and Ronan Keating - face the challenge of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro at the beginning of March to raise money for Red Nose Day 2009.

For those who'd like to experience this climb for themselves, HF Holidays - the UK's largest specialist walking holidays company - is highlighting its new 14-day Kilimanjaro - The Roof of Africa guided itinerary which takes the scenic Lemosho route to the summit.

This longer route helps with acclimatisation, with daily walks varying between two to five hours, and with the ultimate goal of Uhuru Peak being reached on day nine. After the climb, there's time to relax and enjoy a luxury safari with bush walks and game drives in the Ngorongoro Crater - a UNESCO World Heritage Site - taking in wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, elephants, leopards and lions.

The first departure is on 30 July at a cost of £2639 per person, twin-share (land-only) or £3599 inclusive of return Heathrow flights and transfers. And for each guest on the July departure who reaches the summit of Kilimanjaro, HF Holidays pledges to donate £50 to Comic Relief. There's also a second departure - 8 October - which has a £170 saving and now costs £2469 and £3149 respectively.

Also included is 12 nights' full-board (four lodges, eight twin-bedded tents on trek), travel by jeep and coach, the walks, sightseeing and entrance fees, plus the services of a local tour director, local guides and an expert team of trek support staff.
