Bookings up 40% as families choose the UK Economic doom and gloom means more people are choosing holidays in the UK. Haven Holidays are reporting an increase in bookings of up to 40% at some of their parks as holidaymakers opt for a Great British Break.

Haven say, “Taking a holiday in the UK isn’t just good value for money. It’s also more fun! More and more families are discovering just how much Britain has to offer by way of beaches, countryside, heritage and attractions.

“Traditionally the UK has competed with overseas sunshine breaks and we believe tourist attractions around the UK have had to try that little bit harder. Book a break at any of our parks and rain or shine you can visit a different tourist attraction every day of your holiday. Now people are realising that the UK is not just fantastic value for money – there’s also more to do and see.”

Haven have 35 family holiday parks around the UK – and the range of local attractions on offer is huge.

Perran Sands is ideally placed for the Eden Project – but you can also spend a day at Flambards, a theme park that offers history and science alongside rides and play areas, visit the famous attractions at Land’s End and take in the Lost Gardens of Heligan. Perran is also top choice for surfers with one of Cornwall’s best surfing beaches right on the doorstep and the famous beaches of Newquay nearby. Breaks in May from £129 based on 3 nights from 8th May

Thorpe Park, near Cleethorpes has loads to do on park including golf and fishing. Pleasure Island theme park is right next door and worth a visit for extra thrills and white-knuckle rides. April breaks from £99 based on 20th April for four nights.

Hafan y Mor in North Wales is just a scenic drive from Snowdonia National Park. It’s also handy for Portmerion, the famous Italianate Village, steam trains (including the rack and pinion ride up Snowdon) and more historic Welsh castles than you can cram into a short break. May breaks from £159 for a family of six.

In Dorset Weymouth Bay, Seaview and Littlesea are directly on the World Heritage Coastline – perfect for fossil hunting and cliff-top walks. Visit the Abbotsbury Swannery, Weymouth Sea-life Centre and Monkey World. Four nights from May 4th at Littlesea start at £149 for up to six people.
