Hotel savings to be made in Spain this month

Barcelona or Madrid are ideal destinations for March, with reasonable hotel prices and temperature highs of 16 degrees celsius. Average hotel prices have slightly increased in March in comparison to the previous months. The tHPI (trivago Hotel Price Index) shows that an overnight stay in a standard double room costs on average 99 pounds. In contrast to that hotel prices have decreased in major Spanish cities.

The price of a double room in Barcelona fell by 10 per cent from February to March to 93 pounds per night. The average price for a room in Barcelona over the past six months was 107 pounds. In Madrid the average hotel price decreased from 101 pounds to 95 pounds. Hotel prices have also become more favourable in Venice, a standard double room costs 109 pounds in March (122 pounds in February). The United Kingdom is still a cheap option for travellers from other European countries due to the weak pound.

In other European countries hotel prices have increased. The price for a double room in Istanbul is 91 pounds, 21 percent more than in February (75 pounds). In Hanover, Germany the average hotel price has increased by 38 percent to 112 pounds, most probably due to the current CeBIT ICT trade fair. The most expensive European city in March is Geneva (184 pounds for a double room). The cheapest city to visit in March is Krakow (61 pounds).
