29 June: Fishermen's Feast St Peter's Day
This celebration offers visitors the chance to tap into the relaxed local vibe. After a morning church service, there is a blessing of the brightly-decorated boats and boat-sheds on the beaches. Feasting and merrymaking follows and lasts the whole day and night into the early hours of the morning.
20 – 21 July: St Lucia Carnival
This is the most extravagant event on the island. Each year in the capital, Castries, throngs of people jam the streets in colourful costumes to parade to the latest soca and calypso hits.
