Research reveals more people planning UK holidays

Research reveals more people planning UK holidays Recent research carried out by Haven Holidays amongst families shows that despite the economic doom and gloom people are still determined to take a holiday this year. But it seems more and more families are shunning overseas breaks in favour of staying in Britain.

Almost half the subjects asked confirmed that they still intend to take a holiday this year but 27% said that this year they will be opting to stay in the UK in preference to a foreign holiday.

Researchers reported concern not just about money, the dismal exchange rate with the Euro and increased cost of flights and ferries but also anxiety about terrorism and safety. With the general economic uncertainty it seems people said they ‘feel more comfortable’ about staying closer to home.

And with the quality of holidays on offer from top UK operators such as Haven Holidays, newcomers to the great British Break are likely to be agreeably surprised.

Haven say, ‘It’s not just about price – 64% of the people who responded to the research said that ‘value for money’ was most important. This year we have invested around £15 million in improving our product and facilities and we include a lot of activities, entertainment and kid’s clubs in the price of our holidays.’

Additional swimming pools have been built at several Haven parks during the winter season; climbing walls and high ropes have been installed to enhance the sports and leisure programmes at six parks and new food outlets, including Papa John’s pizzas are being introduced. And more parks have achieved awards for Green Tourism in recognition of their commitment to sustainability and the environment.

It’s not just the facilities and entertainment package that comes as part of the price. Haven added, ‘We include lots of little extras that help with the cost and planning. Bed linen is included in our Superior Plus, Prestige and Platinum accommodation. Unlimited gas, electricity and hot water are free of charge. There’s car parking close to our holiday homes and cots and high chairs can be hired to save on luggage.’

All Haven parks have indoor heated pools, outdoor pools, children’s play areas and a full programme of entertainment, family activities and different sports at no extra cost. Check the website on haven.com for parks with direct beach access, fishing lakes, golf courses and horse-riding.
