Step into Cézanne’s canvas

18th March 2009 Print
Step into Cézanne’s canvas Specialist walking operator, Ramblers Worldwide Holidays is offering a one week, half-board holiday in Provence’s beautiful countryside – famous for its bright sunlight and intense colours – perfectly captured by the famous artist, Paul Cézanne.

The holiday begins with Aix en Provence, where Cézanne was born and lived most of his life. One has the opportunity of exploring the centre of this town and the surrounding area with Montagne Saint-Victoire , painted by the artist over 60 times, dominating the views. Springtime is an excellent time to visit for its spectacular display of wild flowers.

Other highlights include a day trip to the town of Cassis to walk to Les Calanques, the fjord-like inlets cut from the limestone cliffs. The literal high point of the holiday is the walk to the summit of Montagne Saint-Victoire for maybe the best view in Provence.

Price from £651 – includes Eurostar/TGV London, St Pancras-Aix en Provence, transfers, one week half-board accommodation and the services of a tour leader.
