Walking on Germany’s ‘Artist’s Coast’

17th April 2009 Print
Walking on Germany’s ‘Artist’s Coast’ Specialist walking tour operator, Ramblers Worldwide Holidays, is offering a one week holiday on Germany’s superb Baltic Coast Riviera – famed for its magical light and artistic communities.

The region inspired the foremost 18th Century German romantic artist, Caspar David Friedrich to capture on canvas the spectacular white cliffs of R?gen.

This is a relatively undiscovered jewel offering miles of beautiful beaches, fringed with forests of beech and limes.

The guided tour begins in K?hlungsbon, an attractive spa resort on the coast with walks up the highest hill in the area – the Diedrichshragener Berg offering panoramic views.

Then it’s a walk to the fishing village of Heligendamm with nearby World Heritage sites Rostock and Wismar – both medieval Hanseatic cities.

The second port of call is the beautiful island of R?gen – with its rugged coast, peninsulars and extensive sandy beaches. From here, one takes a boat trip to the island of Hiddensee with its famous lighthouse and on another day one can walk in the Jasmund National Park to enjoy the white cliffs of R?gen

Price from £792 per person includes return flights, transfers, one week half board accommodation and the services of a tour leader.
