MSC Splendida hits the road  The latest ship to join the MSC Cruises fleet, MSC Splendida, was launched to the travel trade in a series of roadshows around the country earlier this month hosted by MSC Cruises UK and Ireland.

Hundreds of travel agents attended the roadshows, which were held in London, Southampton, Birmingham, Bristol, Glasgow and Dublin. They were treated to an exclusive preview of the new ship, a three-course meal and the opportunity to win lots of prizes – with the grand prize of a cruise for two!

Together with sister ship MSC Fantasia launched last December, MSC Splendida is the largest cruise ship ever commissioned by a European ship owner. With 1,637 cabins, MSC Splendida will include the include the exclusive MSC Yacht Club, launched on MSC Fantasia. This six-star product has 99 suites with 24-hour butler service and concierge, and offers exclusive access to the Top Sail lounge, The One Pool and Bar and MSC Aurea SPA, offering authentic Balinese treatments.

As with its sister ship, MSC Splendida will have two specialty restaurants in addition to the two main dining restaurants and two buffet restaurants. L’Olivo is an a la carte Mediterranean restaurant, focusing on cuisine from a different country in the region each day and Santa Fe is a specialty Mexican restaurant with a show gallery.

Anika Hodgkins from Thomas Cook Hempstead Vally attended the MSC Splendida roadshow in London. She said: “The whole evening was lovely, very informative. This was my first roadshow with MSC Cruises and I feel confident I could sell the new ship now. I really like the MSC Yacht Club concept – I could definitely sell that to customers looking for that little bit extra.”

MSC Splendida is launching in Barcelona on 12 July with film icon Sophia Loren as godmother.
