Enjoy a rambling summer in Umbria

This summer, there's more opportunity to enjoy a stay in a large Umbrian farmhouse situated close to Assisi thanks to a 'small party rate' which has just been introduced on this property courtesy of Vintage Travel which specialises, exclusively, in houses with private pools in areas of local tradition and culture.

Il Borghetto Francescano comprises a main loggia plus two interlinking apartments - in a separate annexe - which can sleep up to 20 in eight bedrooms, but a smaller party of up to 12 can be accommodated in the six bedroom main house.

In addition to the private pool, the house has an extensive lawned garden, large sun terrace, table tennis and barbecue and enjoys fantastic views over the surrounding countryside and towards the hill towns of Bettona and Perugia.

Built in 1790, it retains many original features - in the living area, for example, are the metal rings used for tethering horses and donkeys - plus handmade wooden pieces of furniture and unusual artworks by a local 'artigiano' can be found throughout.

Between 4 July and 22 August a week's rental - for a party of up to 12 - now costs £3595 whilst for between 13 and 20 people the cost is £4895. Return UK flights and car hire are not included, but these can be arranged on request.

A selection of additional services - such as a chef service, cooking lessons, guided visits around the local area and cycle hire - can be arranged.

There's also a variety of festivals taking place in Umbria over the summer months including the Umbria Jazz Festival in mid July, music and events at Montefalco in early August and, at the end of July, the unique Palio delle Barche - a boat race on land and water - at Passignano sul Trasimeno.
