Sri Lankan orchids to be shown at Chelsea
For the first time visitors to the Chelsea Flower Show (May 13-19) will see many exotic orchids especially flown in from Sri Lanka to form the centre piece of The Orchid Society of Great Britain exhibit in the Grand Pavilion including the latest hybrid orchid named after the Queen which will be presented to Her Majesty at the Chelsea Flower Show.Orchid lovers who prefer to see the plants growing naturally in the wild will find some of Sri Lanka’s most precious orchids in the Sinharaja Rainforest and in Horton Plains National Park. More than 300 varieties of exquisite orchids, including the rare indigenous Foxtail and Vesak orchids are to be found in the world famous Orchid House at the Royal Botanical Gardens Paradeniya near Kandy.
