Discover Colombia as a family destination

New for 2009 – Colombia family holiday
The 11-night ‘Colombian Gold Blend’ itinerary includes visits to some of Colombia’s top sights including the lively capital of Bogotá; the celebrated coffee region of Pereira; the Spanish colonial port of Cartagena; and the tropical island of Majagua.

Along the way, families will encounter castles, canyons and coffee plantations whilst being given the opportunity to join in with nature trails, canopying, go-karting, swimming and even pig-racing.

The trip is suitable for children of all ages and prices start from £4,827 for a family of two adults and one child under 12 sharing a room. This price includes local flights, all transfers, first class accommodation and some meals. International flights are extra.

Kids go free in Costa Rica
The nine-night ‘Journey to the Clouds’ itinerary in Costa Rica includes a chance for families to explore the vibrant capital of San José; take a boat excursion down the network of canals that make up the Tortuguero National Park; a gentle hike through the Monteverde Cloudforest Reserve; as well as a once in a lifetime opportunity to view giant sea turtles laying their eggs. With this itinerary, children between the ages of 2-11 years old go free when accompanied by a full paying adult, saving up to £1,000.
Prices start from £4,014 for a family of two adults and two children under 12 sharing a room. The itinerary price includes domestic flights, land transfers, good quality hotels and some meals. Bookings must be made by 30th June 2009 for travel between 1st June – 31st August 2009.

Free Galapágos cruises for kids
Those looking for a fun and educational family break this summer could try following in Darwin’s footsteps on the bicentinerary year of his birth, with Journey Latin America’s new ‘Legendary Galapágos’ holiday designed especially for families with children aged up to the age of 18. The ten-night itinerary includes three nights in Guayaquil and a seven night cruise in the Galapágos.

Activities on offer include penguin spotting on Bartolomé Island; exploring the natural beauty of Isabela Island; visiting the giant tortoises at the Charles Darwin Research Centre and viewing land and marine iguanas, boobies and sea lions in their natural habitat. With this itinerary, a child’s cruise is free when accompanied by two full paying adults.

Prices start from £7,630 for two adults and one child sharing a junior suite triple cabin, a saving of £2,441. The price includes three nights hotel accommodation in Guayaquil, a seven night full board Galapágos cruise, return flights from mainland Ecuador to the Galapagos Islands and airport transfers. International flights are extra. The offer is valid for travel in July and August 2009 and is subject to availability.

Savings of over £1,200 on Patagonian family adventure
This 11-night itinerary includes a chance to view the highlights of Chile and Argentina, such as Santiago de Chile; Torres del Paine National Park; Perito Moreno Glacier; Los Glaciares National Park and Buenos Aires. The trip is suitable for families of all ages and includes a flexible range of activities, including both ‘easy’ and ‘active’ options such as leisurely walks, full-day hiking excursions, boat trips and bird watching.

Prices start from £6,528 for a family of four with two children under 13 – a saving of up to £890 in high season. A family of four with two children over 13 costs from £6,945, a saving of up to £1,249 in high season. This price includes land transfers, quality accommodation, domestic flights, most meals and most excursions in Patagonia. International flights are not included. The offer is valid for travel between 20th September 2009 – 20th October 2009 and 5th March – 8th April 2010.
