Cosy cottages for couples in Crete

20th May 2009 Print
Crete in June means hot sunny days, balmy nights and virtually empty beaches. Island specialist Freelance Holidays - unlike many villa companies - takes couples into consideration with its selection of village houses and apartments. Prices start at just £325 for a week's rental in June - and that's per couple, not per person.

For example, Topolia One is the smallest of four cottages created from the ruins of an old farmhouse. Beamed ceilings and stone arches retain the original character, while air-conditioning, a new bathroom and kitchen provide modern facilities plus there's a shared swimming pool. Arrive 5, 12 or 19 June and pay just £370 for this one-bedroom cottage.

For a sea view and access to 'nightlife' there's Paleohora Studios. A stone's throw from the harbour's traditional tavernas, these low-rise apartments are set in a quiet square. The weeks of 2, 9, 16 or 23 June cost just £325.

Finally, Emilio's House in Agia Paraskevi is the archetypical village house, built directly into the rocky buttress that forms the village square. A week's hire in June starts at £380.

Flights are not included. A host of charters - including First Choice, Monarch, Avro and Thomsonfly serve the island, as well as Easyjet and Jet2.com. Freelance Holidays can book car hire.
