Bringing F1 food to the birthplace of British Motor Sport

Bringing F1 food to the birthplace of British Motor Sport The Gullwing restaurant at Mercedes-Benz World in Weybridge, Surrey, is introducing a new menu supplied exclusively from Laverstoke Park, the award-winning organic farm of 1979 Formula 1 World Champion Jody Scheckter.

Mr Scheckter has created an impressive business as an organic farmer after buying Laverstoke Park farm, located in Hampshire, 40 miles west of London.

Laverstoke Park Farm produces the best-tasting organic food by cultivating the healthiest natural environment. This, combined with slow-growing animals and plants, produces food which is healthier, not to mention tastier.

The Gullwing is a 50-seater restaurant with breathtaking views of the circuits and Surrey country side. Its adjoining terrace means when the sun is shining, guests can take the dining experience outside and look out over all the driving action below.

The Farm will supply the fine dining restaurant with a new menu, comprising:

Starter
Chicken liver parfait, pickled grapes, toasted brioche

Main Course
Tongue in Cheek!
Rillette of pork cheeks, pickled beetroot with pork tongue, pease pudding, Bramley apple sauce

Dessert
Buffalo blue cheese stuffed Comice pears, pine nut baklava

Peter O’Halloran, managing director Mercedes-Benz World, said: “Mercedes-Benz has pioneered some of the greatest automotive innovations and achievements ever-seen, including amazing motorsport success, so this exciting new partnership is particularly fitting for us.

“Jody Scheckter is an iconic name in both motor-racing and now in organic farming. As his fearless driving provided a number of prestigious victories on track, we anticipate his outstanding farming abilities will have a similar effect on this extension to the Gullwing Restaurant’s menu.”

Jody Scheckter commented: “I started Laverstoke Park Farm as I wanted to produce the best tasting, healthiest food without compromise for myself and my family. It has taken twelve years, but now I feel we are back on the podium as the farm is now winning top awards and accolades throughout the country.

“When Mercedes-Benz World approached us about supplying The Gullwing, it gave me great pleasure to provide our produce as I have been enjoying driving Mercedes-Benz cars for almost 30 years!”

Martin Gallon, head chef of The Gullwing, added: “More and more people are coming around to the benefits of eating organically – it’s better for the planet, better for us and better for the animals. Good husbandry and ethical practices are key to what Jody is achieving at Laverstoke Park. The Pork from the farm is naturally tender and sweet which inspired me for the new dish I am presenting today. I am pleased to be able to help spread this message, as well as offering the fruits of Jody’s farm to the diners at The Gullwing.”
