Enjoy a stay in ‘Springwatch’ country

29th May 2009 Print
Lake Vyrnwy in mid-Wales is the latest location for BBC’s Springwatch team, broadcasting on BBC2 until 10 June.

Wildlife fans can stay in the heart of this spectacular scenery at Lake Vyrnwy Hotel – a four-star country house retreat overlooking the lake and the fairytale tower that is the backdrop to the live broadcasts.

There are 58 miles of footpaths to explore here, including routes through the RSPB reserve next door to the hotel where the BBC is filming redstarts, wood warblers, goshawks and other feathered stars.

Trout fishing, canoeing, sailing and other outdoor pursuits can be arranged by the hotel. Romantic breaks are also a speciality, with many rooms boasting a view of the lake, plus his-and-her treatments on offer in the new Spa.

And foodies are well-catered for, with local organic lamb on the menu in the award-winning restaurant.

A two-night break in a Lake View room, on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis, costs from £200 per couple in June.
