A remote Scottish cottage getaway

1st June 2009 Print
Make a great escape this summer to a cottage on Scotland’s Knoydart Peninsula – only accessible by boat and recognised as one the country’s last great wildernesses – courtesy of cottage agency, Ecosse Unique.

‘Grieve’s Cottage’ – reached by boat from Mallaig or a two-day walk over the hills – is situated on a private country estate and is within a 15-minute walk from the village of Inverie, the only real settlement on this amazing peninsula and home to the most remote pub in Britain.

It’s the ideal choice for true country lovers, fishermen, climbers and walkers – visitors can walk for hours within seeing another soul – or for those seeking to relax and recharge batteries in wild, unspoilt scenery.

The cottage (sleeping eight) is cosy and comfortable and comes complete with four bedrooms, two bathrooms, sitting room with wood burning stove and fully-equipped kitchen.

As an example of price, a seven-night holiday in June costs £455, rising to £550 throughout July and August for four persons and £795 rising to £895 for parties of eight.

Knoydart in North West Scotland is reached by ferry from Mallaig – a 45-minute crossing – and cars are left near the town’s quay.
