Discounted holidays aim to entice travellers back to Mexico

TrekAmerica is offering 20 per cent off all Mexico trips to entice travellers back to the country. These discounts, combined with the strengthening of the pound against the US dollar, mean that Mexico trips are now fantastic value for money starting from under £45 per day.

Mexican tourism suffered a blow following the swine flu outbreak earlier this year, but the Foreign and Commonwealth Office has since removed its advice against ‘all but essential travel’ to the country. “Now the situation has normalised, we want to encourage travellers back to Mexico to experience the amazing diversity, culture, adventure, landscape and food the country has to offer,” says TrekAmerica sales director Richard Hanson.

TrekAmerica has three trips in the Yucatan region of Mexico. All departures will be offered with a 20 per cent discount until further notice (see below for terms and conditions).

Yucatan Adventure – now starting from under £42 per day

Enjoy a taste of Mexico swimming in azure waterfalls, relaxing on sandy beaches and exploring Mayan ruins in the jungle. This 14-day camping trip includes admission to Chichen Itza, Palenque, Uxmal and Tulum with time for snorkelling or scuba diving, quad biking and horseback riding.

This trip is now available from the reduced price of £575.20 per person – less than £42 per day.

Ruta Maya – now starting from under £45 per day

This 21-day trip travels from the Caribbean to the Pacific coasts of southern Mexico, visiting the colonial city of Oaxaca and the high altitude town of San Cristobal, famous for its Indian markets, cobblestone streets and delicious cuisine. Merida and the ruins at Palenque are also included on the itinerary. Most nights on this tour are spent camping.

The Ruta Maya is now available from the reduced price of £928 per person – less than £45 per day.

Yucatan Highlights – now starting from under £56 per day

For those who prefer a roof above their heads at night, Yucatan Highlights is an 11-day lodging tour. First stop is Chichen Itza, one of the world’s ‘New Seven Wonders’ – just one of several Mayan sites visited on the tour. Travellers will also take a guided jungle tour at Palenque and spend a few days in Playa del Carmen to enjoy the beach, the vibrant nightlife or snorkelling in Mexico’s unique cenotes (underground caverns).

Yucatan Highlights is now available from the reduced price of £615.20 – under £56 per day.
