Walk around the world in 40 days Britain’s leading guided walking tours operator, Ramblers Worldwide Holidays is offering a spectacular holiday spanning five of the World’s most dynamic destinations in 40 days - departing 29 January 2010.

This ‘adventure’ begins in vibrant Los Angeles, USA (2 nights) with an opportunity to visit the Getty Museum and Universal Studios.

Next stop after an overnight flight is the Cook Islands in the South Pacific staying 5 nights on Raratonga – the youngest of the group’s 15 islands surrounded by clear lagoons that extend to an outer reef. The centre of the island is virtually unpopulated and there are magnificent walks round the once mighty volcanic pyramid and fertile coastal areas.

Another overnight flight brings one to New Zealand, the next port of call where one spends 2 nights in Christchurch before travelling to Mount Cook (2 nights) – the highest mountain in New Zealand. Continuing South one reaches Queenstown (3 nights) from where one can explore the surrounding mountains and enjoy the many activities and facilities that the town offers.

The next leg is Australia where one stays in Melbourne (2 nights), a revitalised city of beautifully landscaped gardens and trails, which hosted the 2006 Commonwealth Games. Next, is the snowy mountains (3 nights) to find mount Kosciusko, Australia’s highest peak and an opportunity to ascend the mountain via cable car. Then an overnights stay in Canberra, Australia’s capital where one can relax and sightsee before heading onto the Blue Mountains in New South Wales (3 nights).
Here one can explore the bush trails through a spectacular landscape with deep valleys, waterfalls and steep gorges.

Sydney is the final Australian destination (3 nights), renowned for its internationally famous Opera House and Harbour Bridge.

By way of complete contrast the final leg of this walking holiday is South Africa. Arriving in Johannesburg, one travels to the Royal Natal National Region (4 nights) to explore the magnificent Drakensberg Mountains. Next stop is the small town of Hluhluwe in Zulu Land where one stays 3 nights in a game reserve. Of particular interest is the Hluhluwe – Umfolozi Game Park where one travels in an open top Jeep with a game ranger.

Capetown (3 nights) is the perfect city to end this Around the World journey, with its most striking feature, Table Mountain. Weather permitting, one can ascend Table Mountain and explore the city taking time out to relax at the Victoria and Alfred waterfront.

This tour is just one of Ramblers Worldwide Holidays extensive portfolio of over 250 destinations in 70 countries.
