Experience the world by rail
Great Rail Journeys – a leading operator for escorted holidays by rail – has launched its Worldwide Holidays by Rail 2010 brochure featuring three new itineraries together with many updated and revised tours.New to the programme, for example, is the great value 15-day Las Vegas & the Golden West itinerary - combining amazing sights and diverse scenery with glitz and glamour – which is available with four departures in 2010 – 21 April, 12 May, 1 September and 6 October.
Highlights include a journey to the Grand Canyon travelling in the vintage carriages of the Grand Canyon Railway, tours of San Francisco – with a visit to Alcatraz – the Valley Floor of the Yosemite National Park and the Californian coastline taking in Cannery Row, the exclusive residences of 17 Mile Drive and the town of Carmel.
In addition, there’s a visit to the Hoover Dam, plus free time in Las Vegas and Los Angeles – with a night spent on board the RMS Queen Mary, moored at Long Beach.
The cost is £1875 per person, based on two sharing - which equates to just £125 per day – and includes return London/San Francisco flights, rail and coach travel, 13 nights’ accommodation (12 hotel, one on the Southwest Chief), all excursions as per itinerary, transfers in the USA and the services of a Tour Manager throughout.
“As with all our holidays, this new tour represents excellent value for money because so much is included and, what is more, as a result of the special group fares which have been keenly negotiated by the company, some of next year’s holidays are actually coming in at a lower price than this year,” says Managing Director, Steve Kimber.
The other two new tours are an 18-day Alaskan Adventure – combining rail journeys and a sternwheeler riverboat trip with a week’s cruise along the picturesque fjords and coastline – and a 10-day Indian Maharaja itinerary which travels right across the north of India – from Mumbai to Delhi – on board the luxury train, the Deccan Odyssey.
