UK walking holidays – Family friendly and pocket friendly

18th June 2009 Print
A selection of peak season UK family-friendly walking breaks are still available with HF Holidays - the UK’s largest specialist walking and leisure activity holidays company.

These seven-night holidays are very all-inclusive - guests just have to pay for drinks - and very sociable and they take place at the most child-friendly of the company’s UK Country Houses - where the accommodation is set aside for the sole use of families.

There’s a choice of interesting guided walks during the day (easier for younger kids and harder for active teenagers) and various entertainment for the evenings such as giant Jenga, table tennis or Wii competitions.

For example, there’s a classic family walking break starting 25 July at Moorlands Country House on Dartmoor. Based on an en-suite family room, the cost is £599 per adult, £299.50 per child (aged four-17 years and sharing with two adults) and under four years of age are free of charge.

Alternatively, at its Country Houses on the Cornish Coast and the Isle of Wight, the company offers ‘Classic Walking just for families plus’ - an easier walking option for families with younger children or families new to walking. Starting 1 August, these holidays offer the normal choice of walks as well as an extra-short walking option for little legs and it’s also possible to hire a child’s papoose. Following the walks, play leaders are on hand at the houses to organise games and activities.

Based on an en-suite family room, the cost is £629 per adult, £314.50 per child (aged four-17 years and sharing with two adults) and under four years of age are free of charge.

These prices include full-board accommodation, the programme of organised walks and social activities, transport to and from the walks, plus the services of an HF Holidays’ walks leader.
