A family holiday with a difference
An action-packed family rambling holiday with a difference – taking in one of the world’s steepest funicular railways, the 102 metre-long Trift suspension bridge and a world of underground tunnels, shafts and turbines – is on offer this summer from the Switzerland Travel Centre. This five-night break takes place in Grimselworld - situated between the Susten and Grimsel alpine passes - and home to the KWO Power Company which has created an outstanding touristic network which makes the unique, natural beauty of the area accessible to everyone.
Further highlights include visiting the crystal caves on the ‘Crystal Trail’ along the shores of Lake Raeterichsboden and the banks of the River Aare, plus Lake Gelmersee - passing huge dam walls and artificial lakes along the way – and a visit to a power plant at Handeck.
On offer on a weekly basis throughout the summer months, the cost of £725 per adult and £418 per child (based on two adults and two youngsters sharing a family room) includes return flights from Heathrow, rail transfers and half-board accommodation in ‘family friendly’ three-star hotels. Children, aged between 13 and 15 years, are charged at £539 each.
The above prices also include a detailed hiking itinerary – walking averages around four hours per day – and luggage transfers between hotels.
