Mosques, souks, kasbahs and deserts Ramblers Worldwide Holidays is offering one its most exotic walking adventures to date. It begins in Marrakech with the powerful image of the minaret of the Koutoubia Mosque set against the snow-clad peaks of the mighty Atlas Mountains. And, by day, there is the hustle and bustle of the souk and by night, the vibrant Djemaa el Fna Square.

Heading south, one crosses the High Atlas Mountains over the spectacular Tizi n’ Tichka pass descending into ‘The Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs’ to the oasis market town of Tinerhir, sandwiched between the High Atlas and the Jebel Saghro Massif.

The tour follows nomadic tracks through the dramatic scenery of the Dades and Todra gorges and shady palmeries where one has time to relax in the cool.

Next, one heads east to the desert frontier town of Erfoud to visit the Erg Chebbi dunes and south to the Drâa Valley and the Saharan town of Zagora – with its backdrop of sugar-loaf mountains.

Nearby are the palm-fringed oasis villages, which adds another dimension to this varied and fascinating holiday.

Finally, its back to Marrakech by air-conditioned coach, spending a night en-route in tranquil Quarzazate.

Price from £1,051 includes return flights, half board accommodation and the services of a tour leader.
