London nano breaks rise in popularity

22nd July 2009 Print
Short break specialist Superbreak has recorded a new trend towards the ‘nano break’ in London. During the last six months, the operator reports a 32% increase in bookings for one night leisure stays in London, compared to the same period in 2008.

As ‘staycationing’ (holidaying in the UK rather than abroad) continues in popularity, this new trend of grabbing just 24 hours away is bringing new people to the capital.

Currently one of travel’s buzz words, the nano break (or micro break as it is also known) is a one night stay where people try and pack as much into to a visit as possible. Seen by many as a credit-crunch-buster the nano break is adding to London's popularity.

Ray Jones, marketing director at Superbreak comments: “With budgets tight and time short due to work pressures, we have seen a significant increase in people booking one night trips to London. Whilst those who live further away in regions such as the West Country, North East or Scotland continue to come for the traditional two or three night short break, those who live a little closer can easily visit for one night. Clients are snapping up hotel bargains. They arrive early and leave late - packing in a lot of experiences whilst away. London seems to be the destination of choice simply because there are so many things to do and a lot of it is free of charge!”

Superbreak offer over 150 low-cost hotels in London with some great value add-ons to ensure no nano breaker is disappointed. The operator features flights on the London Eye, tickets to all top West End shows, rock and pop packages at The O2 Arena, exhibitions, river cruises and optional rail travel from all UK mainline stations.
