Dive in for underwater preservation

28th July 2009 Print
Dive in and take part in a pioneering study helping to map a unique underwater environment off the coast off Oman with Biosphere Expeditions – the award winning, non profit making conservation specialists which is celebrating its 10th anniversary.

This conservation project is studying the diverse coral reef areas where the mountains plunge into the Arabian Gulf. The reefs boast a rich mixture of beautiful corals and a multitude of fish.

Data collected will be crucial for educational purposes and to be able to put forward plans for an informed management and conservation plan within the area. This will follow systems laid down by the internationally recognised coral reef monitoring programme called Reef Check.

The expedition also includes certification as a Reef Check EcoDiver.

Accommodation is aboard a modern and fully equipped dhow, complete with air conditioning and other modern amenities.

Expeditions run between 18-24 October and 25-31 October and the price is £1090 excluding travel to and from Oman.

To take part in the expedition you will need to have a PADI Open Water certificate or equivalent.
