Experience Tuscany’s biggest wine festival

Experience Tuscany’s biggest wine festival If it's a question of true British tourism, Italy is still considered to be one of the most popular destinations, and an area still very pleasant in late summer is Tuscany.

This year the trend is for last minute bookings. For wine lovers and enthusiasts who would like to go away a little later, the holiday home agency Casamundo still has holiday accommodation to offer for every budget in the wine growing estates of Tuscany.

The Chianti wine growing region in the heart of Tuscany is famous for its wine growing and castles like Castelli di Brolio and Meleto. The grape harvest takes place every year in September and November. During this time the local population celebrate the good harvest, for example in the second week of September at the biggest wine festival in Tuscany, the “Rassegna del Chianti Classico” in Greve, where visitors receive a glass of wine and book of coupons and can sample the products of all the products of all the wineries present.

The modern day non-stop city lifestyle means that more and more people are looking to their holidays as a source of refreshment. This chance to escape and get closer to nature can be found during a romantic holiday in an Italian wine-growing estate. In Tuscany there are a vast number of wineries, the so-called “Fattorien”, where guests can stay overnight or are even able to volunteer in the vineyards.

In Casamundo's stone farmhouse in Il Molino you can relax amongst the vineyards and olive groves and witness up close the production of organic wine, or take part in the wine tasting. The holiday home is situated in Mercatale Val di Pesa in the region Chianti, where wine Gallo Nero is produced.

Wine tastings are available on the country estate in Greve, which has a castle dating from the 16th century, where the renowned wine is produced and sold. It is possible for holidaymakers to stay there in a holiday apartment in the centre of the estate or even in the castle itself. A tour of the wine cellar in the castle is particularly impressive.

Classed among the most exceptionally beautiful and affordable properties in Tuscany are those on the old farming estate, L'Ottavo, enclosed by magnificent vineyards and woods and not far from a small hamlet. Guests can visit the wine cellars, as well as purchasing the olive oil and Chianti Classico wine produced on the estate.
