Celebrate ‘Wild Food and the Countryside’ in Pembrokeshire

11th August 2009 Print
With the credit crunch biting, there couldn’t be a better time to learn more about ‘food from the wild’ and one of the best places to do this is at the ‘Really Wild Food and Countryside Festival’ held in St David’s in Pembrokeshire on September 5 and 6.

This event celebrates food and crafts which originate in the wild with cookery and craft demonstrations and stalls, plus advice on foraging to find ‘free food’.

Just some of the food exhibitors at this year’s event include local makers of organic cheese, ice cream, Welsh wine and honey, while other country pursuits to be enjoyed include basket making, spinning, weaving, leatherwork and falconry.

For accommodation, Coastal Cottages of Pembrokeshire has a good selection. For example, rental of Mill House Cottage (sleeps five), a semi-detached stone property in a rural location between St David’s and Solva is £297 for week commencing 5 September.

Also available for the same week is Bwthyn Tresais, just inland in the hamlet of Caerfarchell. Sleeping six and surrounded by farmland, the cottage offers a peaceful retreat just a short drive from St David’s and the coast and costs £407.
