Explore Central America for less this autumn

18th August 2009 Print
Adventure travel specialist Kumuka Worldwide is highlighting its range of small group tours to Central America this autumn, with savings of up to £122 per person.

For example the 14-day ‘Mexican Highlights’ holiday usually costs £774 but the last trip of 2009 on 6 October is now just £652 per person (twin share), saving £122.

The itinerary reveals a wealth of ancient ruins and colonial towns: uncovering the mysteries of the Mayas at Palenque and Chichen Itza, the Zapotecs at Monte Alban and the Aztec culture of Teotihuacan. There are visits to bustling San Cristobal and the silver city of Taxco, the natural formations at Agua Azul and the jungles of southern Mexico as the trip weaves its way from Caribbean beaches and islands to the metropolis of Mexico City.

The price includes 12 nights’ hotel accommodation and an overnight bus journey, all travel within Mexico, sightseeing and the expertise of a Kumuka tour leader throughout.

Alternatively, starting out from the old Guatemalan capital of Antigua on 24 September is a 13-day ‘Highlands and Caribbean’ tour of Guatemala, Belize and Mexico, travelling into the mountains to volcano-ringed Lake Atitlan before descending to the jungle of Tikal. In Belize the emphasis is on beach life with opportunities to snorkel with nurse sharks and sting rays or simply relax on the island of Caye Caulker. Finally, it’s on to the Mayan Riviera where the tour ends in Playa del Carmen.

Originally £610 per person twin share, including 12 nights’ hotel/lodge accommodation, all transport within Central America and the services of a Kumuka tour leader, the trip is now £519, a saving of £91.

International flights are not included, but can be arranged on request. Kumuka’s small group tours typically welcome no more than 16 people on any one departure.
