Lanzarote – The perfect winter sun destination

19th August 2009 Print
Lanzarote – The perfect winter sun destination Lanzarote – one of the most striking Canary Islands – is a perfect walking holiday destination with its varied landscape. Ranging from volcanic cones and sandy beaches to vineyards and white-washed villages.

Leading guided walking tours operator, Ramblers Worldwide Holidays are offering a one week tour of Lanzarote which is designated a UNESCO Biosphere reserve with over 40% of the island protected for its natural richness.

With temperatures rarely falling below 20°C it makes an ideal winter sun destination.

The ‘base’ for this holiday is at the ‘Hotel Diamar’, in the island’s capital, Arrecife. Situated virtually on the beach it is a good ‘stepping off point’ to explore the island’s rugged northern coast, the volcanic awe inspiring Timanfaya National Park and beaches of the south.

Examples of particularly interesting walks include, the mountains above Teguise through the Valley of a Thousand Palm Trees into Haria; a hike along the rocky coast from Ye to Famara, with spectacular views over the La Graciosa and other tiny islands off the north coast and a trail to Playa del Papagayo in the south.

Price for one week from £724 per person, includes return flights, half board accommodation and the services of a tour leader.
