Celebrating 250 years of Guinness

26th August 2009 Print
With one of Ireland’s most famous exports, Guinness, celebrating its 250th anniversary this year, what better time to enjoy an autumn break in Dublin and make a ‘pilgrimage’ to the brewery for a few samples of the ‘black stuff’.

The actual anniversary day – known as ‘Arthur’s Day’ - is 24 September and the brewery, together with some of the city’s finest pubs will be celebrating with live music from top names (visit guinness.com for details)

Another great Irish export, Irish Ferries, is highlighting special deals on short breaks to Dublin right through to the end of the year, including during the Guinness celebrations.

For example, a three-night break with breakfast at the three-star Mespil Hotel in the heart of Georgian Dublin - a short walk from the city centre – starts at just £199 per person (twin share and saving £61 each) inclusive of return travel for car and passengers on the cruise ferry Ulysses between Holyhead and Dublin.

Ulysses, the world’s largest and most luxurious car ferry, crosses the Irish Sea in three hours, 15 minutes and passengers can enjoy great onboard facilities including comfortable lounges, bars, restaurants, cinema, family entertainment centre, shopping arcade etc.
