Go wild on the Isles of Scilly

Looking for the perfect end of summer or autumn short break getaway? If you are and don’t want to travel too far afield, then you could go wild on the Isles of Scilly - the UK’s own Island Archipelago, warmed by the Gulf Stream and lying 28 miles off Lands End.

You may also be lucky and see some of the remaining Puffins, which breed around another of the uninhabited Islands – Annet – in July and August.

On land, the wonderfully scented Narcissi, which are synonymous with the Islands, start flowering in September, thanks largely to the warm Gulf Stream, which sees the Islands flowers develop months ahead of those on the mainland.

And for those looking for something more exotic, the 17 acre Tresco Abbey Garden, established in 1834 by Augustus Smith around the remains of a 12th Century Priory are now home to over 20,000 exotic plants from over 80 countries, few of which would survive on mainland UK.
