Families tucking in to more on holiday
UK holiday company Haven has seen a big increase in bookings this year as many families opt for “stay-cations” rather than going on holiday abroad. And once they check into the holiday park, many families are taking the easy option of hanging up their car keys and enjoying all the facilities on offer.
“It’s not just the activities and entertainment,” say Haven, “more people are taking advantage of the different food options available on our parks.”
Two of Haven’s flagship resorts also offer a dinner, bed and breakfast option at a moderate extra charge and demand for the buffet-style meals in the newly-refurbished restaurants has soared.
Tracy Williams, Holiday Sales Manager at Haven’s Hafan y Mor Holiday Park in North Wales, said: “At the peak of the season we can cater for 1,000 covers a day but unfortunately this year we had to turn down some holidaymakers because demand was just so high.
“Our advice to holidaymakers is to select the half-board option at the time of booking the holiday especially if it is in peak season to avoid disappointment.”
Breakfasts at Hafan y Mor and at Haven’s Craig Tara Holiday Park in Ayr, Scotland, are mouth-watering eat-as-much-as-you-like affairs including fruit juices, yoghurts, cereals, porridge as well as traditional fully-cooked breakfasts.
The three-course evening meals include tasty starters, a wide choice of main meal including home-made steak pie, red Thai curry, a carvery, fish and vegetarian dishes all served with seasonal vegetables or crisp salad, followed by a selection of delicious desserts.
And, as well as watching the pennies, many families are also be watching the pounds with healthy options of jacket potatoes, pastas and salads from the salad bar proving highly popular.
Both resorts attract many group bookings and this year Craig Tara has had visitors from East Europe, Canada and a party of Americans on a golf tour.
Wilma McIlvaney, Turnberry Gardens restaurant manager at Craig Tara, said: “They all said they thoroughly enjoyed the food, which was particularly pleasing to us.”
Four-night breaks with dinner, bed and breakfast are available at Craig Tara from just £99 in Standard accommodation for two people. Visit haven.com for more details and other special offers.
