Event: Aalborg Opera Festival
Date: 1-12 March

In spite of Aalborg’s rather small size (about 150.000 inhabitants) the city is host to the only Opera Festival in Denmark. The festival takes place all over the city with music from several stages. Most of the performances take place indoors (viz. the Congress Centre)because of the rather low temperatures in Scandinavia, but you will also be able to meet the opera world ands its music at cafés and churches!

Event: Copenhagen Marathon

Copenhagen Marathon is one of Europes oldest city marathons. The organizers expect 7,500 runners to line up this year. The same traffic free course as last year is used, where the best features from the previous years are maintained. The course is split into 3 laps, each consisting of approximately 14 km. The first and third laps are almost identical, ensuring runners to pass through the admirable streets of Copenhagen and past the city's major sites.

Event: Carnival in Aalborg

Each year, Aalborg - a middle-sized city in Northern Denmark - is the host of a surprisingly large carnival. The carnival parade is the largest in Northern Europe. About 100.000 people participate in the carnival every year, either as participants in the parade or as spectators along the route to catch a glance of this magnificent wave of people, colour and happiness. Every year the participants create their costumes according to a different theme. The theme for Carnival in Aalborg 2007 will be "Mascarade”

Event: Riverboat Jazz Festival

City: Silkeborg

Each year in the end of June Silkeborg becomes New Orleans and the Gudenå river turns into the Mississippi. Around 70 Orchestras from Denmark and Europe give 150 concerts around the city and on the boats, cruising the beautiful Silkeborg-lakes.

Event: Days of Tordenskjold

Witness "Days of Tordenskold" - the year is 1717" in Frederikshavn (North Jutland) - a firework of continuous adventure. Experience historic groups from Denmark, Norway and Sweden units of three hundred men . "Days of Tordenskiold" offer a series of exciting events including interesting fencing demonstrations, a spectacular play especially written for the occasion, a one-hundred metre long banquet, Fashion Show featuring the latest trends of 1717 with some seventy performers, grand three-mastered training ships from Denmark and Norway some of which are carrying guns along with wooden vessels, authentic music from 1717 and authentic 1717 food served in the local pub "Den kække Kælling". The event takes place by the harbour and the authentic Powder Magazine helps communicate this vibrant story. The aim of the events is not a glorification of the war, on the contrary, it brings to life one of the many crucial incidents of the Great Northern War (1709-1720).

Event: Roskilde Festival

Event: Tall Ships´ Race 2007

Tall Ships' Race is an event which take place every summer. 4,000 young people from more than 30 countries worldwide take part in The Tall Ships' Races in Europe with participation of between 70 and 100 vessels. This unique event combines four days of activities in each port with racing or cruising-in-company between ports. During the race series the young crews gain experience by sailing with fellow-crews at their own age from other countries while facing the physical and emotional challenges the ocean can provide. For the first time ever The Tall Ships’ Races will be held in Aarhus – Denmark’s second-largest city – which has one of the most beautifully situated and busiest traffic harbours in all of Northern Europe.

Event: Copenhagen Jazz Festival

Annual jazz festival which boasts both Danish and world renowned artists and bands. The festival takes place both indoors in clubs and venues and not least outdoors where various scenic places such as parks and squares are transformed into jazz venues! This summer a floating stage will be moored at the quayside of the Copenhagen Harbour across the Danhostel City Hostel as well! Event: Cultural Harbour

Event: Flower Festival

Event: The Malmö Festival
Date: 17-24 August
City: Malmö

Few festivals are as popular and well attended as the Malmö Festival, with more than 1, 5 million visitors over eight great days. Every year the festival starts with the popular and mad crayfish party at Stortorget – quite an experience! Over the next days more than 250 live music performances and concerts will take place, along with several cultural events, a food festival, an amusement park, handicrafts and much much more. Event: European Medieval Festival
Date: 24-25 August
City: Horsens

More than 100.000 musicians, knights, pilgrims, monks and visitors participate in the coming European Medieval Festival in Horsens. Tournaments with knights from different countries, shows and parades. For two days the entire city of Horsens is transformed into a village from the 15th century. The citizens, or more than 5.000 persons, dress up in the correct attire of the period as craftsmen, farmers, vendors etc. and line the streets with their stands, selling all kinds of authentic goods and foods.

Event: Aarhus Festival Week

Event: Night of Culture

More than 700 cultural offers all over the city will be available to the public from 6pm to 12 pm. Last year 60.000 curious and adventurous pass holders took advantage of the unique opportunity to experience an exciting evening of cultural exploration and to visit some of the buildings and institutions which are normally not open to the public. The programme includes all the major museums and exhibition halls, churches, libraries, schools, organisations, and a great number of venues which are normally not open to the public. But also public spaces are transformed into stages for musical performance, poetry reading, art exhibitions and more. Approximately 300 venues are ready to welcome you. Access is obtained with a Night of Culture badge which gives free admission to events and free public transport within Greater Copenhagen. Children under the age of 12 enter for free. Price per badge including a programme for the night: DKK 70 (10 Euro). English program, which consists of excerpts of the Danish program relating to events not determined by language. The badge and program are available at the participating museums, libraries and at S-train stations.

Event: Christmas in “Den Gamle By”

The open air museum of The Old Town is made up of 75 different period houses. During the Christmas period the streets will be decorated beautifully, and 11 of the houses will be housing 30 different Christmas exhibitions. It all adds up to an exciting atmosphere with a true Christmas feeling. Christmas market every weekend in December where the houses come alive with period-dressed personnel.

Event: Christmas in Tivoli

Christmas in Tivoli presents all the delights of Christmases past and present. Stroll through the miniature villages with shops full of gifts and goodies. In the large tent at the centre of Tivoli you'll find the charming village of 'Nissekøbing', a winter wonderland of hundreds of mechanical pixies (in Danish 'nisser').

Event: H.C. Andersen Christmas Market

The old part of Odense where Hans Christian Andersen's childhood home lies, forms the setting of a period Christmas market with all the fun of the fair, illuminations, merry-go-round, and stalls selling goodies and presents. The Hans Christian Andersen Parade performs daily with the winter show
