Festival fever comes to Brighton

England’s largest and most innovative arts festival has a growing reputation as the most exhilarating arts festival in the UK.
Offering an unrivalled programme of high calibre entertainment, Brighton Festival gives a platform to some of the best Brighton-based creative talents, as well as bringing together the very best national and international artists.
Opening with the colourful Children's Parade, Brighton Festival 2007 boasts thirteen premieres including seven events produced or commissioned exclusively for the festival.
A new commission for the 41st Brighton Festival year is ‘41 Places’. 41 Places is a collection of unique personal narratives found, edited, designed and reinstalled into the places they were discovered by journalist William Shaw. These short stories of an easy-to-read length will be displayed in different ways throughout the city – on street furniture, on pavements, on walls, in shop windows, at street corners, in phone boxes, on benches and many more accessible and enticing places. A map can guide you round them all in one day, or just discover them by chance.
From the UK premiere of contemporary Belgian dance company Les Ballets C. de la B, to the iconic 90s cult film Run Lola Run presented with live music by The Bays – this year’s festival promises an explosion of outstanding cultural and artistic events, with something for everyone.
Aside from classical music, opera, theatre and the work of celebrated artists, entertainers and composers, Brighton Festival showcases some extraordinary street art, as well as outdoor carnivals and circus spectaculars that spill into Brighton’s parks, beachfront and the famous Lanes for the duration of the festival.
