Racing for all on tall ship challenge

Joining the fleet in Charlestown, South Carolina, PRINCE WILLIAM, will compete in five races of 9 to 14 days from May through to July. The first leg sets sails on 7 May from Charlestown with the final race departing Newport Rhode Island for Halifax in Nova Scotia on 30 June. In between there will be a chance to join in the celebrations in Norfolk, Virginia to mark the 400th anniversary of the birthplace of America.
Three of the races will be for 16-25 year olds and the other two will be open to those aged 18 to 75. Prices start at £699 per person (excluding travel).
Additional Tall Ship sails in 2007 include:
• Torbay Brig Match Challenge August 17-20: Following the huge success of the races to mark the 50th anniversary of the Tall Ships Youth Trust in 2006, the two sisterships return to Torbay for Brig Match races for youth crews (16-25) £399pp.
• New youth challenge: Join the crew of either PRINCE WILLIAM or STAVROS S NIARCHOS in the first Tall Ships Fastnet race (August 21-28) from Torbay and around the Fastnet Rocks to Cork (£599pp).
• Trans Atlantic Challenge: While not part of a race, Tall Ships Adventures has crew places on two Trans Atlantic voyages. The outward 21-day sail from the Azores to Bermuda departs on 16 April (£999), while the return 25-day voyage departs Halifax for Portsmouth on 15 July. The latter is the first Atlantic sail for a youth crew (£1999).
• For the first time, there will be 7-10 night sails up the west coast of Ireland, the West and Northern Isles and around the northern most tip of Scotland (from £499).
• Youngsters: Following the successful pilot in 2066, there will be five UK week-long voyages for youngsters aged 14 and 15 (from £399pp).
