Typhoon to take Airbourne by storm

18th April 2007 Print
The Typhoon The Eurofighter Typhoon is once again set to take Eastbourne airshow by storm. The futuristic fast jet is returning to Airbourne for a third time, after being one of only a few airshows specially selected to showcase the new aircraft during its inaugural year in 2005.

Eastbourne Borough Council Assistant Director of Economy, Tourism & Planning, Sarah Lamy said “The Typhoon is a fascinating aircraft – not only is it the future of the RAF over the next 30 years – but it’s a big crowd favourite here in Eastbourne, especially after we were one of the first to see the display! The Typhoon will be just one of many fast jets at the show and we’ve plenty more attractions in the pipeline too!”

The free event which runs from 16 – 19 August, is due to include a packed line up of fast jets, aerobatic teams and helicopters, including overseas military as well as the best of the RAF. Aircraft fans also await the biggest airshow news of 2007 – the long awaited return of the Vulcan – which is anticipated to make an early appearance at Eastbourne, for the first time ever at the show.

For those who can’t wait to bag their front row seat, the Officers Club has now opened for business offering spectacular views of all flying along with fine dining in exclusive surroundings. A new menu has also been set for this year with some excellent early bird offers especially for airshow fans. Local businesses can also showcase their home town by combining their day at the Club with an exhilarating helicopter flight.

Airbourne returns from 16 – 19 August, in the meantime an interactive DVD is available from the Tourist Information Centre featuring cockpit footage and highlights from 2006. For more information or to book the Officers Club visit Eastbourneairshow.com.
