"Scotland is home to some of the most scenic drives in the world. Where else can you find uncongested, meandering roads taking you past historic castles, elegant abbeys and dramatic ruins?”
The Scottish Borders is a destination which has a wealth of things to see and do: from scenic drives to charming towns and villages, historic houses, castles and gardens, all within easy reach, whether you're travelling from the south or the north.
The Scottish Borders history is more turbulent and romantic than most, punctuated on all sides by imposing castles, elegant abbeys, stately mansions and dramatic ruins.
The area is famous for its textiles so it's the perfect place to shop for the softest cashmere, the cosiest woollens and the finest tweeds. The landscapes inspire local craftspeople to reflect the beauty of the land in stunning creations in glass, wood, ceramic or paint.
Opportunities abound for a variety of activities in the Borders countryside. Walking is excellent at any time of year with over 1500 miles of dedicated routes to choose from.
