America’s Woodstock revival
It was the heyday for love, peace, flower power, flowing hair and mindful music back in 1969 when Woodstock attracted the crowds. Next month heralds the first “remake” of the 1960’s Woodstock Festival set in the state, made famous by John Denver’s ballads, West Virginia. The hippies of the sixties will bring their grandchildren to hear legendary bands to include Jefferson Starship and Mind Garage in a new era where MySpace has become the new FM.Over three days of peace and music, the event will be staged on the Good Evening Ranch grounds in Summersville in West Virginia, located one hour’s drive from Charleston, the state’s capital.
Organised by Artie Kornfield who originated Woodstock, The Goodstock Music Festival takes place on July 19 - 20 - 21, 2007, an event which promises a remake of the music, rock culture, peace and brotherhood of the era with the bands and fans who were there the first time. The Mind Garage returns with all the original members and dozens of 60's and 70's era bands.
The event will begin with the opening of Goodstock Village, as a festival of the sixties with vendors of 60`s memorabilia, exhibits of the era clothing and band attire, a 60's museum style exhibit, bands performing continually, plus the re-creation of a 60s San Francisco light show.
