Record numbers for Moffat Classic Car Rally
Classic car enthusiasts are gearing up to join hundreds of other classic car owners from all over the country taking part in next weekend’s 10th Moffat Classic Car Rally.The Moffat Classic Car Rally in Scotland’s south west was started in 1998 by the Scottish Rootes Enthusiasts and has grown to become the biggest classic car event in Scotland attracting thousands of visitors to the area.
Some drivers are travelling hundreds of miles to Dumfries and Galloway. This two day event takes in the most Scenic Drive in Britain, following the A708 from Moffat to Selkirk, as voted for by Dunlop Tyres. St. Mary’s Loch was singled out for special praise.
The Dunlop panel agreed that the journey from is an excellent alternative to the motorway and deserved national acclaim.
Moffat is a small historical spa town located in the beautiful Annandale hills. Situated just 21 miles form Dumfries and 54 miles from Edinburgh and close to the M74.
The Classic Car Rally is just one of the many events that take place in Moffat. The annual calendar also includes a weekend walking festival, an agricultural show, tennis tournament and many more.
Station Park is renowned as the jewel in the town’s crown and hosts a putting green, boating pond and Moffatasia water feature.
The stunning Grey Mare’s Tail waterfall and the awe-inspiring Devil’s Beeftub, a deep dramatic hollow in the hills north of Moffat are just a short drive away and are ideal for walkers and nature lovers. The latter’s unusual name derives from its use by the Border Reivers to hide stolen cattle.
The 10th Moffat Classic Car Rally will be held on 23rd & 24th June.
