Party in Paris? Take them to the Bastille!

20th June 2007 Print
Paris Bastille Day in Paris is more than a national holiday in France, it’s a 36-hour party. As France celebrates its liberté, egalité and fraternité, visitors can join in the exuberant street parties, picnics, parades and firework displays as Paris goes wild.

You’ll find it is easy to be part of it with Eurolines offering ultra low-cost fares from as little as £15 on its Eurolines Plus services direct from central London to the heart of Paris. It also has plenty of places to stay from its accommodation partner octopustravel on its website Eurolines.co.uk.

Bastille Day actually marks the storming of the Bastille prison which started the French Revolution. The main event is a military parade along the Champs-Elysées. But that is almost lost as Parisians stage free events all over the city. Check out the city’s fire stations which traditionally stage parties the evening before or head for Bastille Square for dancing well into the next morning. More relaxing, is the Incredible Picnic, said to be the largest in the world.

After the big parade, you can carry on celebrating with plenty of bars, restaurants and clubs to choose from, all with their own unique party style, before ending with spectacular fireworks in the Champs-de-Mars.

Getting there is easy on one of Eurolines seven direct daily services. It’s also hassle-free and relaxing with plenty of leg-room, reclining seats and even a free set of headphones to enjoy the onboard video and music channels (or take away as spares for your i-pod).

Tickets can be booked online at Eurolines.co.uk, or at any National Express travel agent.
