Beat holiday boredom with a visit to Blue Planet Aquarium
Blue Planet Aquarium near Chester is launching two brand new activities for kids to plunge into this summer. For the first time the Ellesmere Port based site have put together activities for older children to enjoy throughout the school holidays.Bubblemaker, a PADI standard diving introduction, will give 8-15 year olds a chance to discover diving in a 45 minute session in an outdoor dive pool.
Crew Member for a Day will run each week of the holidays on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Becoming part of the Blue Planet Aquarium ‘Crew’ will give children a chance to try their hand at presenting and actually taking part in a live presentation. Not for the squeamish the day will also include food presentation and feeding alongside the Rangers. Staff are also gearing up to share with the newly recruited ‘Crew’ some of the best kept secrets of how Blue Planet Aquarium works with the marine life in their care.
Andy Hygate, Park Director for the Blue Planet Aquarium, says: “Our aim is to put the fun back into the school holidays. Our divers are keen that children discover diving in a safe, fun environment, which in turn we hope will see them become the ocean conservationists of tomorrow!
“We are also looking forward to seeing how the children who become Crew members develop their role, they might even teach us a thing or two!”
Crew member for a day is available to children aged 7-12, lasts from 10am to 4pm and lunch, drinks and snacks are provided. BubbleMaker is for children aged 8-15 and all equipment is provided.
Parents are advised to book early to avoid disappointment. Full details are available at BluePlanetAquarium.com.
