Jersey farms join forces for special event

Two Genuine Jersey businesses are delighted to announce they’re joining forces for a special event this Saturday incorporating the sights, sounds and smells of summer. Jersey Lavender Farm and Brooklands Farm are hosting a ‘Meet the Pig’ Day at the Lavender Farm on Saturday 11 August where local farmer John Hackett’s rare breed of Essex Saddleback porkers will be on display amongst the fragrant lilac flowers.

There’ll be fun competitions throughout the day as people try and guess the weight of a piglet or suggest a suitable name for one!

For the discounted price of just £2, visitors will be free to explore The Jersey Lavender Farm which is still in bloom at this time of year with the invigorating smell which swirls around the beautiful grounds.

Both the Jersey Lavender Farm and Brooklands Farm are members of Genuine Jersey and they feel a partnership like this is an exciting way to boost business and provide a fun and interesting day out for people in Jersey. Both independent businesses are proud of their Jersey roots and eager to retain their strongly branded identities developed over the years.

The all-day event is a great chance for people to see the benefits of a passionate farm like Brooklands who care lovingly for their pigs. As well as seeing the piglets in their prime, visitors will be able to sample the delicious sausages produced from this fantastic herd of animals. Two that you simply have to try are the ‘Jersey Lily’, which features lavender from the lavender farm grounds, and ‘Corbiere’, which is flavoured with Rosemary and Thyme. Also sizzling in the pan will be the classic premium pork breakfast banger and a honey & wholegrain mustard version.

Jersey Lavender Farm owner, Alastair Christie, says he’s hoping for a great turnout: ‘We think it’s a great opportunity for anyone who’s interested in animals to come and see these amazing creatures up close. The piglets are adorable and it’ll be a fun day out for kids. It’s the second time we’ve partnered with Brooklands Farm and we’re really looking forward to doing more with them in the future.’

This Saturday’s event at the Jersey Lavender Farm takes place from 10am – 5pm with discounted entry to the farm of just £2 for adults (free for children under 14).
