Capsis Minoan Amusement Park opens in Crete
This autumn half term children and parents alike can be entertained for the duration of their holiday while staying at the Capsis Resort Crete. All the fun can be had at their brand new concept recreational area, the Capsis Minoan Park, based on the myths of the Minotaur and inspired by the palaces of Knossos, Phaistos and Malia. Hotel Guests will enjoy free entrance until the end of 2007.This historical amusement park is 4.000 sq. m and aimed at children from 4 to 14 years of age and their parents. This unique park will be open to the hotel guests as well as to the public and to all children who wish to experience this, one-of-a-kind for Greece, playland!
The Minoan Amusement Park is the only Minoan Mythological Park in Greece and will introduce children to the world of Minoan and Greek Mythology, where the Ancient World will be revived in front of their eyes. It consists of a main Minoan Palace with various facilities and a range of outdoor game areas.
The entertainment starts at the entrance gift shop where parents and children have a chance to purchase souvenirs, pick and mix sweets and candies and of course try the freshly prepared snacks, light meals and beverages at the indoor or outdoor snack bar. The playland area includes the following facilities:
• Carousel with Minotaurs based on the Minoan Mythology (indoors)
• Minoan Palace Pool (indoor & outdoors): a river/lagoon type pool in the centre of the park featuring a replica of Ulysses ancient trireme boat for children to play on and a music bridge
• A private Children’s Guesthouse & Nursery (only accessible to children and supervised by professionally-trained staff) with sleeping area, bathrooms and dining area for a total of 26 children (indoors)
• Labyrinth (outdoors): a unique game with more than 20 communicating rooms with Minoan decorations where the winner reaches Ariadne’s clue and the loser falls into the Minotaur’s trap. Within the Labyrith, kids can try out the Archaeologist Game where they can pretend to be archaeologists, wearing helmets and carrying lamps for an exciting archaeological treasure hunt and puzzle game
• Climbing Area: where children can practice climbing with ropes.
• Indoor Theatre: where all types of shows can be organised, such as puppet shows with puppets of human size, 3-D video projections etc. (capacity: about 40-50 children)
• Outdoor amphitheatre: where a variety of shows and performances take place (capacity: more than 80 children)
• “Ball” Area: an area filled with colourful balls where children can play
• Darts Room
• Rodeo Minotaur
• An atrium with trampoline
• Video & interactive games rooms: a neighbourhood of various screens and seating areas where groups of children can play many different videogames simultaneously
• Tree Houses: a zone of tree houses where children of various ages can play (indoors & outdoors)
• Playground: a fully-equipped playground with slides, sand pits and other games
• Animation team with actors, clowns & jugglers
