South Somerset Food Festival

It will be opened by speciality food writer Henrietta Green, known for her Food Lover’s Britain website, at the free entry ‘Levels Best Market Place’, which will celebrate the excellent variety of quality food and drink produced within the Somerset Levels and Moors. Open from 10am until 2pm the event will be held in the old stables at Montacute House, near Yeovil.
Among the other events planned are a free afternoon orchard walk and tasting by the Somerset Cider Brandy Company on Saturday 29 September and 6 October, which includes a chance to taste bitter, sweet and sharp apples as well as the finished product.
Visitors to the Orchard Old Spots at Huish Episcopi from Monday 1 to Saturday 6 October will be able to meet the free-range pigs and sample their traditional, award winning pork products, while a tempting three course lunch using home baked local produce is on offer at Dorothy’s Tea Rooms, Hinton St George from 1 - 6 October.
South Somerset’s hotels such as the Lordleaze, Chard are also taking part in the Festival with special offers and menus, so too are Barrowlane Farm Cottages near Wincanton who are offering a complimentary breakfast hamper from their farm shop for holidaymakers staying in their cottages during the festival.
The South Somerset Food Festival will also be a featured event within British Food Fortnight (22 September – 7 October).
