Summer bank holiday fun

27th August 2007 Print
Bristol Quayside Summer is finally here and this Bank Holiday, Bristol is the place to be with some scorching summer savings, an array of exciting events, outdoor activities, wonderful attractions and this year the city has its very own urban beach.

This is the message from Destination Bristol, the tourism partnership for Bristol and South Gloucestershire, who have created special pages on Visitbristol.co.uk, the city’s tourism website dedicated to the school summer holidays.

Kerrie Grist, Marketing Executive, Destination Bristol said “The site features some great suggestions for summer holiday fun, as well as an abundance of savings and special offers for both residents and tourists alike. You will find many exclusive offers such as kids go free and 2for1 entry to Bristol's top attractions including At-Bristol, Bristol Zoo Gardens, Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm, Westonbirt, the City Sightseeing Bus and many others. Plus there are massive savings on accommodation, eating out and travel. With less than two weeks of the school holidays remaining, keeping the children entertained need not be expensive in Bristol”.

Suggestions for things to do include new Madagascan-themed activities and plays at Bristol Zoo Gardens, The Down Under exhibition at the British Empire & Commonwealth Museum, The Really Wet Show at Explore-At-Bristol, circus skills and puppet theatre at Blaise Castle Estate and Tyntesfield Tuesday, a children’s fun day at the spectacular National Trust property in Wraxall.

Among those Bank Holiday events covered are a barbeque at WWT Slimbridge, Festival of the Tree at Westonbirt Arboretum and visits from Brunel at the ss Great Britain. Other impressive Bristol events to look out for before the children return to school include Bristol International Festival of Kites and Air Creations at Ashton Court Estate and the Soil Association Organic Food Festival on Bristol’s harbourside, both taking place on the weekend of 1-2 September.
