Hong Kong Tourism Board sponsors UK equestrian events
To highlight Hong Kong’s role as host city of the 2008 Equestrian Olympics, the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) has become an official sponsor of the Blenheim International Horse Trials and the Horse of the Year show. The prestigious Blenheim International Horse Trials take place in the magnificent grounds of Blenheim Palace in Woodstock, Oxfordshire from September 6 – 9, 2007. And Britain’s top 10 riders will compete at the Horse of the Year Show at the NEC Birmingham, from October 3-7, 2007.
Richard Hume, Director Northern Europe & Middle East, HKTB said: “Hong Kong has a reputation for equine excellence and we are very proud to be hosting the 2008 Olympics and Paralympics Equestrian Events. It is also a fantastic opportunity to showcase the vibrancy and excitement of Hong Kong on a world stage.
“Both Blenheim and the Horse of the Year Show are marvellous sporting occasions in the UK equestrian calendar, attended and watched by many competitors and enthusiasts that we hope to see in Hong Kong next year.”
Hong Kong’s presence at Blenheim will see one of the main cross-country fences and two branded boards in the main arena bare the wording ‘Hong Kong - 2008 Olympic Equestrian Host’ alongside an iconic red junk logo. Each entrance will feature two Hong Kong Equestrian events themed entrance boards and two flags. The programme will also contain a full-page advert for the 2008 Olympics Eventing, Dressage and Cross Country competitions and Hong Kong - the destination.
The same branding will be visible at the Horse of the Year Show where HKTB has agreed naming rights of the international Show Jumping class and trophy, digital and static perimeter signage, programme and website credits and the screening of its Olympics Equestrian advert in the main arena. The tourism board will also man an information booth at the event.
The crème of Britain’s show jumping talent, Olympics hopefuls among them, will compete at Blenheim and the Horse of the Year show. Britain’s equestrian squad qualified for the 2008 Olympics in August, winning a bronze medal at the European Show Jumping Championships in Mannheim, Germany.
