Get your skates on for a visit to Bristol This winter visit Bristol for a short break, shopping or soak up the atmosphere as the city sparkles with light and colour. There is so much happening this festive season that a special winter website Visitbristol.co.uk/winter has been created to showcase the many activities and events taking place in and around the city.

Destination Bristol, the tourism partnership for Bristol and South Gloucestershire has developed the website as a ‘one stop shop’ providing details of every Christmas activity and winter event imaginable. It has been designed for both residents and tourists alike.

Feisal Khalif, Marketing Manager for Destination Bristol said, “Visitors to the site will find everything they need to know from ice skating and winter walks to carol concerts, christmas shows and meeting Father Christmas.

“Visitbristol.co.uk/winter is designed to raise the profile of the city and bring benefits to our members and local traders by promoting Bristol as an excellent winter destination.”

This year for the first time Bristol Zoo Gardens has unveiled plans for a spectacular outdoor ice skating rink. From November 16th visitors to the Zoo will be able to pull their skates on and take to the ice, either combining a skating session with a day out at the Zoo or with a special ‘out of hours’ ice rink only experience, where they can skate under the stars to the accompanying sound of roaring of lions!

Other distinctive features on the winter website include a guide to Christmas shopping covering Christmas store opening hours, great gift ideas, places to shop plus information on Christmas lights switch on events. Visitors can also take advantage of a free Christmas party and New Year's Eve venue-finding service under the Eating & Drinking section.

The what’s on facility successfully wraps up details of events and activities. Take a festive trip back in time and experience a Victorian Christmas at the British Empire & Commonwealth Museum. Children will love the magical Santa Sailings with the Bristol Ferry Boat Company and don’t miss the smash hit musical Mamma Mia! arriving at the Bristol Hippodrome on 30th November for a fantastic 9 week run.

Feisal Khalif added, “In addition the website provides staying visitors with accommodation and festive short-break offers and I’m sure local people also visiting the website will find it a very useful tool to discover events on their doorstep that they simply weren’t aware of! If like me you wonder what there is to do on Boxing Day or are seeking novel ideas for New Years Eve then Visitbristol.co.uk/winter could have the answer.”

The winter in Bristol website is now live at Visitbristol.co.uk/winter.
