19th October 2007 Print
Southern Rail has made the cost of travel on Australia’s Great Train Journeys, the Indian Pacific, The Ghan and The Overland hard to beat with a new Super Summer Rail Saver fares. The new fares are for travel in Red Service Day/Nighter Seats and are for bookings made up to 24 December 2007 for travel from 1 November until 31 March 2008. Fares are slashed up to 78% off the return travel and up to 58% for one way travel.

Great Southern Rail Chief Executive Officer, Tony Braxton-Smith expects the new fares to be extremely popular with budget travellers.

The new fare is being marketed as a ‘Super Summer Rail Savers’ fare. Mr Braxton-Smith said the fare, along with the advantages of train travel has made the choice easier for budget travellers looking for the best combination of value and comfort.

“Our recliner lounge seats have plenty of leg room from which guests can enjoy the scenery, socialize or simply relax. Train guests can take a walk and purchase a meal from the diner or even enjoy a drink in the lounge car. The added benefit is that they get to travel aboard one of the world’s greatest train journeys”.
