Asia's jet set event of the year - IndoChine Festival On Sunday, Singapore kicked off to become the focus of parties and revelry as guests and visitors from around the globe joined the week-long celebration of cuisine, fine wines, sports, music, exciting international entertainment and themed events branded as the IndoChine Festival – Asia’s jet set event of the year.

Already into its fourth consecutive year, the IndoChine Festival was established to provide a platform for Europe’s and the Middle East’s elite to meet Asia’s elite to network and most importantly strike potential business partnerships through a superb line-up of social activities.

Kicking off the Festival was one of the hottest Latin jazz bands today – two-time Grammy nominated Tiempo Libre - in a spectacular performance at Fiesta Del Sol on Sunday, 21 October at the Bar Opiume, IndoChine Empress Place.

Although the main highlight of the festival is said to be the Tropical Fiesta Gala Night on Thursday, 25 October primarily aimed at raising funds for charities. Special guest DJ Luigi will be travelling all the way from St Tropez to entertain guests at the tropical chic-inspired party held at IndoChine Waterfront, alongside Brazilian music personality Los Callaberos.

“The Gala Night is our annual dinner epitomising the global jet-set party reputation that IndoChine has established throughout the years. To date we have confirmed a number of very hi-profile guests from around the world including, the H&M family from Europe, Malaysian royalty, ambassadors, well-known business personalities and of course many of Asia’s socialites,” says Mr. Michael Ma, IndoChine Group CEO.

The IndoChine Festival this year will once again play a part in positioning Singapore as a world-class destination for outstanding events and excitement but more notably as a superior leisure destination. Business travellers and overseas tourists attending the festival make up approximately 50% of the guest list, whilst the other half is made up of locals in Singapore including expatriates.

A fundamental part of the festival will be the two hour panel discussion with world leading expert on the environment and sustainable development, Dr. Ashok Khosla on Friday 26 October, together with Mr. David Ong, Chairman of the Flowers for the Children charity and Mr. Martin Tan of the Halogen Foundation.

“The IndoChine Festival is Asia’s only Jet-set Event of the Year and aims to mark Singapore as a premier destination for all types of visitors. This festival is a platform to showcase Singapore as more than just a stopover city for business travellers – it aims to brand Singapore as the Monaco of the East,” points out Mr. Ma.

On Tuesday, 23 October 2007, Jeremy Oliver one of Australia's leading and most influential wine critics and Wine Writer of the Year for 2005, will warm up the evening as he conducts a wine pairing dinner at IndoChine Waterfront, Empress Place in conjunction with the Singapore Sun Festival. This will be followed by another highlight of the Festival - the IndoChine Classic Golf Tournament taking place on Wednesday, 24 October 2007 at the Keppel Golf Club.

Guests will also have the chance to party at IndoChine Forbidden City with world-class acts such as DJ Kaz James from BodyRockers fame, on Friday, 26 October and Pukka Up’s DJ Abigail Bailey from the UK on Saturday, 27 October.

And Saturday night will have guests savouring scorching flavours as well-known celebrity chefs cook up a storm of succulent crab in a culinary showcase at The Forbidden City, Clarke Quay in the Celebrity Chilli Crab Celebration on Saturday, 27 October.

As a grand finale wrapping up a week of exciting entertainment the Festival will host it’s first ever Shanghai Tang International Women’s Polo Tournament 2007 at the Singapore Polo Club on Sunday, 28 October.
